Katy's Surgery

Here's a quick update on Katy's surgery. We arrived at 0810 and they took her back at about 0830 to prep her for the procedure. The preanesthesia meds took awhile to set in because she was pretty nervous, but they caught up with her eventually. All said, the actual surgery only took 30-40 minutes. The doc said he removed multiple polyps in her sinuses, but he feels they are mostly due to chronic inflammation. Overall, he said she has small nasal passages and sinuses, which is why the polyps caused so much trouble in the first place. He widened the opening to her sinuses to improve drainage. Post-op, she recovered well. The back of her throat and her sinuses burned initially, but that resolved over the first couple hours. They warned us to expect frequent bloody noses over the next 3-4 days with a fairly quick return to normal thereafter. She just can't bend over to pack this week:)
