We feel so lucky to have such a wonderful battalion commander and battalion chaplain, both of whom made it possible for Nathan to come home to me.
Typical Army regs would not allow a soldier to take leave from an operation unless the death involved an immediate family member. For example, Garreth's uncle was unable to get leave from his station in Afghanistan. His unit simply followed protocol, it was not considered an immediate family member.
I left the airport last night and proceeded straight to a friends house to help with a garage sale. Our group of friends here (The Vet Mafia) have coordinated a huge garage sale where we have pooled all of our things together. Over the next year many of us are moving and we figure one huge garage sale might draw a bigger crowd.
Next week is the Special Forces Family Readiness Conference, every day from 8am to 5pm. It should be really informative so I'm looking forward to it.
I'm staying busy and I feel so comforted by my wonderful support system of family and friends. And the dogs of course :) are great for hugs.
