Spring Break

So over my spring break my sister Sarah was married to a wonderful guy named Brian. As most of you know I offered to make a wedding cake for their wedding party which was held at their new house this past Friday, March 22. Nathan also offered to cook for the whole shindig which ended up being about 90 people or so, kiddos included. It was a great success. I can't recall a single thing that went wrong and not only did my cake turn out as I had planned but it was also fairly edible. The groom's cake was a suprise hit as well and survived about 5 minutes post champagne toast before it was sliced and disappeared. It was an enormous amount of work getting the house prepped before hand, cooking for everyone and then cleaning everything up afterwards but thankfully both ours and Brian's family are pretty awesome when it comes to hard work. The following Monday Nathan and I headed up to Colorado Springs where Nathan had meetings scheduled all week and I spent the days site seeing. The mountains were beautiful, the weather was perfect all week. On Friday we drove up to CastleRock and had dinner with my Aunt and Uncle whom I had not seen in a few years. Nathan commented the whole drive up on how great it would be to own land in Colorado or Northern New Mexico. The drive home was long especially after we stopped in Dallas to pick up all of his cooking equipment and a new couch. From Dallas back to our home our little 4 cylinder Mazda truck hauled a sixteen foot fully loaded trailer behind it, we had to keep it in fourth gear going about 60 mph, 40 mph if we hit an incline. It was a learning experience and I say that because half way home Nathan pulled over and handed me the keys saying I had to learn how to pull a trailer. We made it home though and I've got some great pictures...
