Recent adventures

Lately a lot has been happening here at the Hoyt house.

Thanksgiving found Nathan frying a turkey and cooking gumbo. We spent the day over at a friends house.

In past photos you have witnessed the catastrophe that is our garage..

After pricing the industrial shelving units at Lowe's, Nathan decided he could build his own.

A few weeks ago we purchased all the lumber and tools necessary for this latest project. On a side note, it in fact cost us more for these supplies than it would have to just buy the shelves.

Starbucks.

Essential for proper lumber purchasing technique.

Here I learned all about how to pick good lumber and avoid the bad stuff that would be inadequate for building, evaluating the straightness of the boards was very important.

Of course it started to rain while we were in Lowe's but leave it to Nathan to be prepared with our tarp already in the truck.

Last week I woke up to find that the fence guys had been out and placed all of the posts.

I freaked out.

Technically we had not yet recieved approval from the housing association to build the fence.

That's what I get for sleeping in.

The very next day the housing association VP came to place the approval sign in our yard.

He knocked on the door. "Tell me you did not start building this before you were approved." he said to me.

"Of course not (I lied) I called them this morning to let them know you had approved us and they just left."

"Wow!" he says, "That's fast service!"

Yes.

Yes, it is fast service MR. Housing Association VP.

Whew.

The fence required us to remove some trees so Nathan had an excuse to buy a new chainsaw.

On Saturday morning around 7 a.m. we were roused from bed (sleeping in again) by the phone. The fence company was at the gate in our neighborhood coming to finish the fence!

The dogs ran laps around their new yard.

Vega says "Thanks Bill (landlord) for saving me from being locked in my kennel all day while my parents are gone."

Stoli checked the perimeter for possible breaks and hole digging prospects.

Of course while all of this has been going the past three weeks I've been preparing for and taking my finals. As of today I am officially done with this semester with nothing but A's to add to my transcripts. I very pleased and looking forward to next semester.
