Lately ....

These past three weeks have gone by slowly. Nathan has gotten into a habit of calling me in the mornings here, the evenings for him. I cannot give dates but soon he will be leaving for his first "vetcap" which means he will be leaving the protection of the base and going out into the country. I mailed his first box yesterday with some supplies he requested for this upcoming trip. Please keep in him in all of your prayers.

On my side of the world I have recently completed some training aimed toward helping wives who have lost their spouse. I've meet our commanders wife and apparently made an impression because the very next morning Nathan told me his commander was commenting that his wife had mentioned meeting me to him. I hope that's a good thing. Later this month I will be meeting with her again when we pack up care packages for our unit together.

Nathan's friends here have been keeping me busy as well. Last week I tasted my first home-brewed beer at a friends house. It was actually pretty good. There have been lots of card playing parties and BBQ's. On Monday I will be riding a mule for the first time. This particular mule is part of a pair being trained for use at West Point. I'll try and get some pictures.

School is going well but it's a little boring so I have applied to work nights at an animal emergency clinic near our house. Many of Vet friends here take turns working nights when the Army lets them so it will nice to work with people I know.

Right now I just keep telling myself "stay busy, stay busy, stay busy..."

so far so good.
